Off My Chest: The Thing About Stress

Hello and welcome to my blog! If this is your first time visiting, then be sure to check out the other stuff I have on here! I have a number of posts and 'series' on here to hopefully keep you entertained!

Anyway, I have written this blog post because it has hit the news recently that actress Sheridan Smith is taking four weeks off from theatre production Funny Girl due to stress and exhaustion. This was after Smith had missed three performances of her show in a row, rumoured by some to be because of her drinking.

Sheridan Smith
Stress is not uncommon, we all go through it. Work gets on top of us, the stress of adulthood, bills, family troubles, relationships....it doesn't matter what it is because we all experience stress at some point in our lives and some more than others.
I think stress can often be undermined in that it's perhaps not viewed as an illness, but stress can be extremely detrimental to your health. Mental illnesses in general are difficult because it's not visible. It's easy to see a bruise, a cut or a physical injury, but no one can read or experience the thoughts which you carry around with you on a daily basis. It is because of this that it's easy to be misunderstood. Unless someone knows you extremely well or cares deeply for you, they are not going to realise the differences in your character and they are certainly not going to realise that there is any sort of problem unless you talk about it.

Personally I find stress difficult to handle at times. When you go through things without sharing your problems or venting your stress and it builds, it's only a matter of time before the volcano erupts. Pent up frustrations and emotions roll into one and it all comes flooding out at once. The situation seems bigger then it may actually be and it all becomes a bit too much. That's why it's important to deal with these stresses before it all becomes a bit too much.

I haven't followed Sheridan Smith's works all that much but what I do know about her is that this girl is on TV all the time. She seems like an incredibly hardworking actress who is constantly filling the boots of a new role and deserves the much needed break. Hopefully she is able to make a full recovery and do what she does best!

So what do you think? How do you handle stress? Let me know!

Natalya's Quote Of The Week! (29/11/15)

It's been a while since the last Quote Of The Week! My apologies! You can click here if you want to read the last Quote Of The Week!!

As I have mentioned more than once, I am currently studying at university, and one of the important things about being at university that I have yet to exercise is the importance of timekeeping and routine. I have the habit of doing things that are not important, such as watching something entertaining over working on an assignment. Seriously, I think I must be a master of putting off work until I start to feel the pressure as deadlines get closer and closer. I wrote a post previously about procrastinating that you can read here if you wish.

No matter how much I try to stop procrastinating, it's difficult to programme my mind to change its ways. However, it's not only necessary if I am to achieve good marks for my assignments, but it is absolutely vital if I, or anyone wants to be successful in life. I aim to have a career driven mentality, motivated by success and one of the keys to this is consistency. This is something that I have been lacking, so this is a quote to bare in mind and thus my Quote Of The Week!

Can't Get This Out Of My Head! My Catchy Songs Of The Moment! (6)

Its been a while since I've written one of these. I wrote my fifth edition of this series back in late August, which you can check out here! Click on the link if you want to see what my catchy songs of the moment back in August were!

Flash forward to November and I have quite a few number of songs that are currently on my repeat list! Here they are!

Lady Lykez - Chat to Your Man

Single released in 2015

I got a spotify account recently which has been great for me discovering new music that I have not heard before. On the browse page of spotify, the digital music service suggests playlists' of music for you to listen to. This is how I stumbled across a couple of tracks that I can't stop listening to as of this moment and this track is one of them. Chat to your man is a song with a catchy hook and chorus, that features a lady with attitude and a unique style. This is a club banger that is right up my street!

Fetty Wap ft Monty - 679

679 from the album Fetty Wap (Deluxe) (2015)

This is another catchy club banger that pleases the ear buds. When I heard Fetty Wap's first single, Trap Queen, I couldn't tell you how addicted I was to that song. In a bid to find more songs like Fetty's hit single, I stumbled across this track which took me quite a few listens to get into. There's two versions of this song, one featuring Monty and another featuring Remy Boyz (which has its own music video.) The two have subtle differences, but I prefer the version featuring Monty simply because I have listened to it more.

R Kelly ft Jeremih & Lil Wayne - Switch Up

Switch Up from the album The Buffet (2015)

First Cookie and now this. R Kelly seems to be doing well in his comeback and on top of that, one of my favourite artist's Jeremih also features in this track. Bonus.

Fuse ODG - Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad)

Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad) From the album T.I.N.A (2014)

This one is older than the rest and I have heard this song before, but when I listened to the song properly through my headphones, this song stuck with me. This is definitely another one of those songs that is easy to dance to. It's uplifting and...well.....catchy!

The Weeknd - The Hills

The Hills from the album Beauty Behind the Madness (2015)

This song has a different vibe to the rest of the songs on this list, which fits in with The Weeknd's sultry style...if that's the right way to describe it. It's the chorus that really makes this song, sung in a higher tone than the verses.

Thanks for reading this edition of 'Can't Get This Out Of My Head! Catchy Songs Of The Moment!' Please check back for the next edition  of this series and be sure to follow!

NPop Quote Of The Week! (14/11/15)

You can read last week's quote of the week right here!! http://natalyaon.blogspot.com/2015/11/npop-quote-of-week-061115.html

Sorry for the absence my friends. Juggling assignments with my blog has been difficult and deadlines are looming, but I am back for a new quote of the week!

I lost my way for a while, trying to find out my identity. By this what I mean is that I've been trying to find out what I should be doing with my life. I am very indecisive, often changing my career prospects. It's because of this that I've been kind of moving forward in no particular direction and this has led me to be just a tad depressed. Therefore, it's important to find your purpose and passion and pursue it. Don't live this life without one.

Natalya's Quote Of The Week! (06/11/15)

TGIF! Unless you work on weekends, then I feel for you. It's Friday, which means another 'NPop Quote Of The Week!' Wahoo! You can read last week's quote of the week here!

This is something I would do well to apply to my life. I am a big daydreamer and I often dream of being successful, yet I can easily waste my days doing things that are not necessary. Things that do not help my growth as an individual or climb up the ladder. Sometimes I would much rather do something meaningless like watch television or listen to music than do research for an essay (which is standard to be fair) or exercise. Watching television is not going to help me in the long run, apart from perhaps gaining a little knowledge of the TV show in question. However, doing research for an essay is taking one step closer to completing that assignment. and gaining a degree. Exercise is one step closer to toning my limbs (if I exercise regularly) and having a healthier body.

I have dreams of being an author one day, but for me to chase that dream I would have to take the required steps in that direction, such as reading and writing. This is necessary in order for me to write a good book some day and so I have to pass up on things that are easier such as talking to a friend on the phone, or browsing social media in favour of free writing, or reading the latest teen novel. This is why this quote is very relevant to me, and can be relevant to you as well. "You gotta do what you HAVE to do before you can do what you WANT to do. It's called priorities."

Be sure to check out my other quotes of the week on my blog and FOLLOW! Thanks for reading!

1st World Problems - The Struggles Of Being Lazy

Check out the last 1st World Problems, 'Taking Things for Granted' Here

Being at University with deadlines looming over me, it starts to become more apparent to me just how lazy of a person I am. For one, I have been a bit lazy in updating this blog, which I could argue is because I haven't had the time to update the blog due to all the assignments that have crept up on me. However, the list of things that I've needed to do for at least a week now have been piling up me. The Struggles Of Being Lazy. Here are just a few of them....

Going to Bed Late, Getting Up Late

I tell myself every night that I'm going to bed early. 10, 11, 12 at the latest. However, that's where the devil Internet comes into play. I touched on the subject of the Internet on my blog '1st World Problems - Procrastinating'. It has become a routine for me to watch videos on Youtube to relax and entertain myself before going to bed. The problem is, it becomes more than too easy to pass the time you intended on going to bed in favour of watching yet another video. Before I know it, it's 1am and I finally tear myself away from the laptop screen to brush my teeth and go to bed. Sometimes, 10-20 minutes pass and I still can't sleep, so I tell myself that another hour on the internet won't hurt. It's a viscous cycle. I definitely love my sleep, so I generally have to have at least 8 hours sleep, and if I'm going to sleep at 2, well...let's just say I'm not getting up early.

Going To The Shops

This involves actually getting changed, fixing your hair and stepping out the door and out into the cold (if it's winter or just generally cold weather). It's hard enough as it is to get out of bed, but the thought of going outside can sometimes be too much for this lazy soul. It's not just going outside that can be the problem, but the fact that the shops are a 10 minute walk away and a 10 minute walk back, or even more. So much effort.

Going Out With Other People

Have you ever made plans and been really excited about them at the time, and then that time comes around and that plan is the last thing you want to do? You'd much rather stay in the comfort of your own home than interact with human beings. I do this a lot, and laziness is a big factor in this.

Cooking

Cooking properly (not using the microwave or even the oven sometimes) requires so much effort, especially if you actually want a filling meal that fills your belly. If going to the shops was hard, then cooking is even harder. It's not the best option, it's certainly not a healthy option but takeaways or microwaved food is so much easier and gets food in my stomach faster. Even if I made the effort to cook, the washing up can really take the energy out of you if you've got a lot of pots and plates in the sink. Sigh...

Tidying The Bedroom

The thing about having a messy bedroom is that even when you make the effort to tidy the bedroom (usually if someone's coming around or I'm just feeling productive) it still somehow ends up being a mess less than a week later. I don't know how it happened, it's a mystery but clothes is a large part of the blame. If my clothes aren't tangled up on or in my bed, then they're on my desk chair or floor. The struggles.

NPop Quote Of The Week! (01/11/15)

With a new month on the horizon brings a new quote of the week! You can read last week's quote of the week here --> http://natalyaon.blogspot.com/2015/10/npop-quote-of-week-231015.html

When it comes to achievement and success, I believe I can be a little too hard on myself. Failure can deter some from trying, including myself and especially for those that may have anxiety or other issues that stop them from doing the things they may fear. At the end of the day, all we can do is try our best. Sometimes our best may not be enough, but the most important thing is that we tried. Without trying, we will never be able to achieve success, so always keep trying.
